The Market Lost. What happens when the wild bites back? A thoughtful composition combing two of my great loves, Malmesbury and nature. I love the idea of Malmesbury's most ancient monument being over run by nature, a sort of Mad Max apocalypse but Wiltshire! Why roses? Well 7 years ago I used to prune the roses at Abbey House Gardens, all 2000 of them, I figure if any plant is going to prosper around the Market Cross it’s Ian Pollard’s (RIP) superb climbers!
This is an edition of 10. Very awkward sourcing a piece of wood this wide to fit the artwork. It took me 6 hours just to cut one layer of this 17 layer stencil!
