I didn’t have to go far for inspiration for this years Spring artwork. I wanted to paint something new that represented the new season and I managed to catch this small Tortoiseshell Butterfly fluttering around the studio on video. The warm air from the wood burner and a sunny morning had caused an end to winter hibernation! You can see the butterfly and making process in my short film.

The piece name is ‘Best Friend’ and I’m really pleased with the current level of detail I’m achieving. The artwork had to look like he had just landed on the piece of wood, just like the original landed on the wall of the Stencil Shed studio! Signed and numbered, this is number 46 in the edition and is on sustainably sourced Elm wood from the UK. You will get exactly what you see in the photo. Size is 14 x 18cm.
